News Topical, Digital Desk : A 24-year-old man stabbed his former girlfriend and then slit his throat and committed suicide in Mumbai's Byculla area on Friday (October 24) morning, police said. Sonu Barai, a resident of Kalachowki, attacked Manisha Yadav (24) around 11 am, an official said.
The incident occurred approximately two weeks after the couple separated. The official stated that Manisha suffered serious injuries in the attack and is being treated in a hospital. He added that Barai suspected Manisha of having an affair, which led to a fight between the two, after which they ended their relationship.
Manisha was murdered on the pretext of meeting
The accused, Sonu Barai, called his former girlfriend to meet him on Friday morning, but also took a kitchen knife with him. According to the officer, when Manisha arrived at the scene, Barai stabbed her two to three times.
Manisha, still injured, ran for her life and entered a private hospital. However, the accused, Barai, followed her, entered the hospital, and attacked her.
Killed lover and then slit her own throat
Following the incident, other bystanders tried to intervene, but were unable to do much because Barai was furious and armed. According to the official, Barai slit his own throat and died at the scene from excessive bleeding.
He said that Manisha, who was seriously injured, was taken to a nearby hospital. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Both the boyfriend and girlfriend have been confirmed to have tragically died in the incident. Currently, the police are thoroughly investigating every aspect of the incident.
