Search continues for 56 missing people from Mandi district

 

Relief and rescue operations have gained momentum in various areas of the disaster-affected Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. After the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the army personnel have also taken charge.

The NDRF team reached the village after walking nine kilometers

 

On Friday, NDRF personnel rescued 65 people from Deji village in Seraj area. All these people were stranded due to floods and landslides as the roads were broken. The NDRF team reached Deji village after walking nine kilometers on difficult roads. First of all, the health of the sick people was checked. Later, they were taken to the relief camp.

 

Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apurv Devgan said that it was not easy to reach the village. The roads were cut off at many places, stones were falling continuously due to landslides and the rain had made the situation even more difficult. Despite this, the operation was successful due to the coordinated efforts of the administration, NDRF, police and local volunteers.

Relief material is being sent by Air Force helicopter

The death toll due to the flood and landslide caused by cloudburst on June 30 in Mandi district has risen to 17. The body of a woman was found in the Beas river in Kangra district late Thursday evening. 56 people are still missing. Relief material is being sent by Air Force helicopters. The missing people are being searched with drones. At present, the headquarters is cut off from all sides. Electricity and telecommunication services have been partially restored.

 

Kedarnath walking route damaged, Yatra disrupted for six hours

 

The continuous rain in Uttarakhand is causing disruption in the Char Dham Yatra. On Friday, the Kedarnath footpath was damaged due to heavy rain and the Yatra was disrupted for six hours. When the path opened at around 12 noon, pilgrims were allowed to walk on the footpath from Gaurikund. During this time, 500 pilgrims returning from the Dham were also safely brought to Gaurikund.

 

Yamunotri Highway could not be opened even on the sixth day on Friday

 

At the same time, the Badrinath highway was blocked from 5 am to 10 am due to a landslide near Umatta bridge in Karnaprayag. During this time, the police-administration took out small vehicles via Karnaprayag-Siwai-Kaleshwar. The Yamunotri highway could not be opened even on the sixth day on Friday.

The material for the Bailey bridge which reached Silai Band to open the highway is being transported to Ojri. After this, the Bailey bridge will be constructed in Ojri. This work may take a week.
