News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday in South Korea, the last leg of his Asia tour, that the US and India will sign a long-pending trade deal.

Negotiations for this agreement have been ongoing for months, including Russia's war against Ukraine, and disputes over India's purchase of Russian oil and tariffs.

He said, "If you look at India and Pakistan, I am doing a trade deal with India and I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have very good relations."

Talks have also stalled due to India's refusal to allow the US access to its value-sensitive dairy and agricultural products. However, last week, reports suggested that the US had agreed to reduce tariffs to 16 percent if India agreed to reduce its purchases of Russian oil.

Trump reads ballads in praise of PM Modi

"I'm doing a trade deal with India. I have deep respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have a great relationship. Prime Minister Modi is the best looking. He's a tremendous guy. He's very tough," Trump said during his South Korean visit.

However, Trump also made a statement regarding Pakistan's Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir. He said that he had pushed for a ceasefire during the war between the two countries. He also mentioned India and Pakistan's nuclear capabilities.
