News Topical, Digital Desk : Describing the India-US relationship as a very special relationship, US President Donald Trump said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will always be his friend. He assured that no one needs to worry about the relations between India and America.

However, Trump also said that he does not like some of the steps taken by PM Modi at this time. Despite this, he made it clear that there is no rift in the relations between the two countries.

When asked if he is ready to rekindle ties with India, he said, “I will always be. Modi is a great Prime Minister. I just don't like what he is doing right now, but India-US relationship is very special. There is nothing to worry about.”

Will there be a trade agreement between India and America?

Trump also said in a conversation with the media that America's trade agreements with many countries, including India, are progressing well. But he expressed displeasure over the European Union (EU), which recently imposed a fine of $ 3.5 billion on American tech company Google.

Trump said that the European Union is discriminating against American companies and his government will not tolerate this. He called it an unfair action against big American business. It is worth noting that the EU had imposed this fine on Google for affecting competition in the online advertising technology (AdTech) sector.

Trump backtracked from his statement

Trump recently wrote on his social media platform that America has lost India and Russia to China. However, later in a conversation with the media, he said that he does not think this has happened.

India clarified its relations with America

He also said that India buying more oil from Russia disappoints him. Trump said that he has informed India about this issue. On the other hand, on behalf of India, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that India-US relations are strong and it is based on democratic values, common interests and people-to-people relations. He assured that both the countries will remain connected on all issues including trade.
