According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Margashirsha will begin at 7:12 am on November 18th. It will end at 9:43 am on November 19th. Night worship is important on the monthly Shivaratri. Therefore, the monthly Shivaratri will be celebrated on November 18th.
Significance of Monthly Shivratri (Margashirsha Masik Shivratri 2025 Significance)
Worshiping Lord Shiva on the monthly Shivaratri of the month of Margashirsha bestows happiness, peace, health, and desired results upon the devotee. It is said that observing a fast on this day bestows upon unmarried women a desired husband, and upon married women the boon of eternal happiness. It is believed that worshipping Shiva and Parvati together on this day removes all troubles and obstacles in life.
Monthly Shivratri Puja Vidhi (Margashirsha Masik Shivratri 2025 Puja Vidhi)
- Wake up in the morning during Brahma Muhurta, take a bath and wear clean clothes.
- Take water in your hand and take a vow to fast.
- First anoint the Shivling with water and then with Panchamrit.
- Offer Bilva leaves, Datura, Bhang, Shami leaves, white sandalwood, Akshat, and flowers to Lord Shiva.
- Offer wedding items, red clothes and flowers to Mother Parvati.
- Light a ghee lamp and chant the mantra 'Om Namah Shivay' at least 108 times.
- Read or listen to the Shivaratri fast story.
- Do worship during Nishita period also and break the fast the next morning.
