News Topical, Digital Desk : A large number of typhoid cases have been reported in Gujarat's capital, Gandhinagar, and 104 patients, including children, have been hospitalized with suspected typhoid. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi reviewed the situation at the Gandhinagar Civil Hospital on Saturday. Officials said the number of typhoid patients at the civil hospital has increased over the past three days, with 104 patients admitted to the pediatric ward.

State Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi stated that senior officials, including the Deputy District Magistrate, have been instructed to assess the situation at the hospital, while arrangements for food and other amenities have been made for the families of the admitted patients. He added that a team of 22 doctors has been formed to treat the patients.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the DM

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the situation with the District Magistrate three times over the phone. He said, "Currently, 104 suspected cases have been identified. The administration is continuously strengthening the treatment and monitoring system. Efforts are underway to provide better facilities to patients and their families."

Drinking water is not safe

Dr. Meeta Parikh, Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital, stated that several people, including children, have been admitted to the hospital from Gandhinagar's Sectors 24, 25, 26, and 28, as well as the Adiwada area, and their condition is stable. She added that water samples have been collected from these areas, and reports have revealed that the drinking water is unsafe for consumption.

The health department began a door-to-door survey in the affected areas.

Officials said the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation's health department has begun door-to-door surveys in the affected areas. "People have been advised to drink boiled water and eat home-cooked food," they said. The municipal corporation is also distributing chlorine tablets to clean water tanks.
