News Topical, Digital Desk : A major attack took place in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Saturday, when a gunman entered a supermarket and opened fire. At least five people were killed and several others injured in the incident.
The attacker also took several people hostage, but was later killed by security forces. President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that five people were killed in the attack and about 10 others were injured and hospitalized. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

During the attack, the suspect took several people hostage in the supermarket. Security forces later responded and rescued four hostages safely. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the attacker first opened fire in a residential area before entering the supermarket, where continuous gunfire was heard.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police and special forces teams were dispatched to the scene. The operation took place in the Holosievsky district, in the southern part of the city. Police said the attacker was killed during the operation. However, the reason for the attack is not yet clear.
The investigation is ongoing
President Zelenskyy stated that all aspects of the incident are being investigated and the truth will soon be revealed. He directed that the investigation be completed expeditiously.
