The murderer of the elderly Laldimaan turned out to be none other than his younger son, 45-year-old Bhagwali. Police arrested him and recovered the murder weapon. During interrogation, the motive for the murder was revealed to be greed for land and a feud between the brothers. The deceased Laldimaan owned 60 bighas of land, of which he had transferred 10 bighas each to his two sons, and had sold 19 bighas and divided the proceeds. Now, he had approximately 20 bighas of land remaining.

lived alone on the farm

Laldimaan's wife had died five years earlier, so he lived alone on the farm. His eldest son, Harnarayan, served him and visited daily to deliver food. Bhagyabali began to fear that his father had promised that whoever served him would inherit the remaining land. Bhagyabali feared that his elder brother would control his father and transfer the entire land to his name. Under this fear and mental pressure, he plotted to eliminate his father and killed him by crushing him with a brick. This incident proved how blood ties have weakened in the face of greed.
