News Topical, Digital Desk : A statue of Maharishi Valmiki, author of the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, was unveiled by Indian Ambassador to Italy Vani Rao and Mayor Massimiliano Micucci in Camporotondo, Italy. The statue was gifted by the Indian government.

The statue of Maharishi Valmiki was presented at a ceremony

"The statue of Maharishi Valmiki, gifted by the Government of India, was presented at a ceremony attended by Italy's Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Amararam Gurjar and members of the Valmiki community. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations has supported the initiative of 'Connecting the world through Ramayana'," the Embassy of India said in a post on X.

Under the Indian Council of Cultural Relations' initiative 'Connecting the World through Ramayana', it was said that Ramayana transcends boundaries and unites people across the world, providing inspiration and moral lessons.

India and Italy are ancient civilisations

The Council said India and Italy are ancient civilisations with rich cultural heritage. Italy's port cities were important trading centres on the ancient spice route.
