New Delhi: Political activities have started increasing in Maharashtra as the assembly elections are approaching. Recently, discussions started in political circles whether Ajit Pawar, who split the NCP a year ago and joined the alliance with BJP, will join hands with Sharad Pawar once again.
When NCP (Ajit faction) chief and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was asked about this, he refused to comment. According to a report by news agency ANI, he has said that he will contest the upcoming assembly elections with the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state.
Ajit Pawar avoided the question
When asked about Sharad Pawar's recent comments about his return to the Sharad faction, Ajit Pawar said there was no comment on it. However, he did not rule out the possibility. In an interview to ANI, Ajit Pawar said that the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP, did not perform as per expectations in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, but the difference in votes with the MVA or India Block parties was very less.
It is worth noting that Ajit Pawar joined the Eknath Shinde-led BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra in July last year, which led to a split in the NCP. Sharad Pawar had said last month that those who stood with him in difficult times would decide whether his nephew Ajit Pawar would get a place in the party or not. He said that this would not be his personal decision. Let us tell you that assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra later this year.
We will always respect Sharad Pawar: Ajit Pawar
Answering the question, Ajit Pawar said that Sharad Pawar has been in politics for more than six decades and they will continue to respect him. He said, 'People see Pawar Saheb as a senior leader. We have decided that we will continue to respect him in the future as well. Pawar Saheb has been in politics for almost 62 years and almost two-three generations have seen his politics.'
'Supriya's political style is different'
Ajit further says, 'Supriya Sule and Sharad Pawar's style of politics is not the same. There is a change with every generation and Supriya does what she feels is right. To keep pace with the times, Sharad Pawar always tries to keep the younger generation close, talks to them.' Ajit Pawar clarified that he will contest the upcoming assembly elections with the Mahayuti. He said that he will try to get a clear majority in it.
