News Topical, Digital Desk : Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that newly appointed officials of the Election Commission (EC) have been given the responsibility of rejecting the nomination papers of her party candidates and asked the party candidates to be cautious while filing their nominations.

Banerjee, while addressing an election rally at Nanoor in Birbhum district in Bengal, accused the BJP of misusing central agencies for political gains.

" Everything has been changed, there is a new system here. The newly appointed officials have been given the responsibility by the Election Commission to reject your nomination, so be careful while filing your nomination, " Banerjee said at the rally.

Appealed to women not to vote for BJP

The Chief Minister appealed to people, especially women, not to vote for the BJP. He said, "They (the BJP) are anti-women, that is why their names are being removed from the Special Intensive Review (SIR) citing logical inconsistencies."

Elections for the 294-member Bengal Assembly will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 4.
