When is Janmashtami 2025?
According to the Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month will start on 15 August 2025 at 11:49 pm and will last till 9:34 pm on 16 August. According to the Udaya Tithi, the main Janmashtami will be on 16 August. Therefore, people of Smarta sect will worship on 15 August, while the Vaishnava sect and Brajvasis will celebrate Shri Krishna Janmotsav on 16 August.
Janmashtami Puja Method (Janmashtami 2025 Puja Method)
- Take a bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and take a vow to fast.
- Decorate the swing of Lord Krishna in the worship place or temple of the house, decorate it beautifully with flowers and lights.
- Anoint Lord Krishna with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey and Ganga water).
- Offer fresh butter, sugar candy, and basil leaves.
- Sing hymns and kirtans throughout the day and remember the deeds of Lord Krishna.
- Celebrate Sri Krishna Janma festival at 12 midnight, perform Aarti with the sound of conch and bells.
- After the birth anniversary, distribute Prasad and offer the food to the devotees.
