Karwa Chauth Moonrise Timings
In the national capital, Delhi, the moonrise occurred at 8:13 pm. Married women can break their fast by worshipping the Moon God at this time. However, moonrise times may vary depending on the city. You can consult your local calendar for this information.
How to break the fast?
The devotee should decorate the puja plate. Place puja materials including water, a sieve, a lamp, etc. in it. Now, standing on the terrace or in the open sky, facing the moonrise, offer arghya to the Moon God with plain water, Ganga water, or raw milk. During this time, you can chant mantras in the name of the Moon God. After this, worship the Moon God as per the rituals. Now, place a lamp on the sieve and have darshan of the Moon God.
At this time, pray to the Moon, the planet of the mind, for your husband's long life and increased happiness and prosperity. After receiving the Moon's blessings, look at your husband's face through a sieve. Then, seek his blessings. During this time, eat sweets or something sweet from your husband's hand and drink water. After this, touch the feet of the elders in the house and seek their blessings.
Today, on Karva Chauth, eat only sattvic food. Avoid tamasic foods at all. If you wish, after breaking your fast, you can donate food and money, depending on your financial situation. You can also provide food to the needy.
