News Topical, Digital Desk : The Karnataka High Court has quashed a sexual assault case against a 30-year-old man from Maharashtra. A woman had accused him of forcing himself on her via video call.
The court clearly said that the woman was an adult and she had joined the video call of her own free will, hence the use of criminal force is not proved in this case.
There was no coercion on the video call
In the Karnataka High Court, Justice Rajesh Rai K. delivered the verdict, saying, "The woman voluntarily removed her clothes and joined the call, hence the charges against the accused cannot stand."
This incident occurred in June 2022. The two met through social media. The woman alleged that the man lured her into a video call under the pretense of marriage and took photographs.
The woman also claimed that the young man had demanded 2,000 rupees from her in exchange for deleting the photos. The High Court has now dismissed the case.
