News Topical, Digital Desk : The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Delhi High Court to decide within two weeks the bail plea of ​​former Dewan Housing Finance Ltd promoter Kapil Wadhawan in the multi-crore bank fraud case.

A bench of Justices Ujjwal Bhuyan and Manmohan said the Wadhawans have been in custody since July 2022 and their bail plea would be heard in the high court on July 18.

The bench asked the High Court to decide on the bail plea within two weeks from the date of hearing. In this case, Wadhawan brothers Kapil and Dheeraj were arrested on 19 July 2022. Dheeraj was granted interim bail by the High Court on medical grounds on September 9 last year.

The chargesheet was filed by the CBI on October 15, 2022. The FIR in the case was based on a complaint by Union Bank of India.

Ratul Puri acquitted in alleged bank fraud case

The court has acquitted industrialist Ratul Puri in two separate alleged banking fraud cases worth Rs 1,101 crore. No crime was found in the evidence presented in the chargesheet by the CBI.

The CBI had filed separate chargesheets against Puri and others in connection with alleged bank fraud cases involving Rs 747-crore Moser Baer Solar Ltd and Rs 354-crore Moser Baer India Ltd.
