News Topical, Digital Desk : Jyoti Malhotra Espionage Case: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested last month on suspicion of espionage, on Tuesday (June 10) requested regular bail from a court here. Malhotra's lawyer gave this information. Malhotra filed a regular bail petition before Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Sunil Kumar through his lawyer Kumar Mukesh. The lawyer said that the court has sought a reply from the police by June 11.

The court had on Monday extended Malhotra's judicial custody and fixed the matter for hearing on June 23. Jyoti Malhotra's lawyer Kumar Mukesh said, “A regular bail plea was filed in the court on behalf of Jyoti. The court has accepted the plea, sought a response from the police and the hearing will be held tomorrow. After the police's response, there will be arguments and the court will decide whether to grant remand or not.”

Jyoti was arrested on May 16 on suspicion of espionage

The 33-year-old YouTuber appeared before the court via video conference. Hisar police arrested Malhotra on May 16 on suspicion of espionage. The court later sent her to five days of police custody, which was later extended by four more days for interrogation. On May 26, the court sent Jyoti Malhotra to 14 days of judicial custody.

Case filed under Privacy Act and BNS

Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar, has a channel named 'Travel with Joe' on YouTube. Social media influencer Jyoti Malhotra was arrested from New Agrasen Extension. A case has been registered against her under the provisions of the Official Secrets Act and the Indian Penal Code (BNS).

Jyoti was in contact with Danish, an employee of the PAK High Commission

Police sources had said that Jyoti Malhotra was in contact with Pakistani High Commission employee Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish since November 2023. India expelled Danish on May 13 for allegedly indulging in espionage.
