News Topical, Digital Desk : The Supreme Court of India has given a big decision regarding the ongoing dispute between ISKCON Mumbai and ISKCON Bangalore. The Supreme Court has said that Bangalore Hare Krishna Hill Temple will remain with ISKCON Bangalore. The Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the Karnataka High Court and cancelled the rights of Mumbai ISKCON. Let us know about this entire dispute.

What did ISKCON Bangalore say on the decision?

On this decision of the Supreme Court, ISKCON Bangalore President Madhu Pandit Das said - "Today is a very important occasion for Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the Hare Krishna movement. In the year 1977, Srila Prabhupada attained 'Maha Samadhi'. After this, his disciples took over the leadership of the movement. ISKCON Mumbai / Bombay wanted to expel all those who considered Srila Prabhupada as the only guru. ISKCON Bombay tried to claim the property of ISKCON Bangalore. Today the Supreme Court has accepted that Bangalore is the owner of the registered ISKCON society and temple."

What is the whole controversy?

Actually, ISKCON Mumbai claimed that ISKCON Bangalore is just its branch. Due to this, all the properties related to ISKCON Bangalore also come under the jurisdiction of ISKCON Mumbai. At the same time, ISKCON Bangalore claimed that it has been working independently for the last several decades and is managing the temple in Bangalore.

What has happened in the case so far?

In this dispute over the jurisdiction over the temple, the lower court had given the verdict in favor of ISKCON Bangalore in the year 2009. The lower court had rejected the rights of ISKCON Mumbai and said that ISKCON Bangalore is not a branch of ISKCON Mumbai but an independent institution. However, in the year 2011, the Karnataka High Court overturned this decision and upheld the claim of ISKCON Mumbai. They also got control over the temple. ISKCON Bangalore had now approached the Supreme Court against this decision. Now the Supreme Court has overturned the decision of the Karnataka High Court. ISKCON Bangalore's petition has been accepted.
