News Topical, Digital Desk : The Indian Navy on Monday received three new warships: the advanced guided missile frigate "Dunagiri," the survey vessel "Sandhodhanak," and the shallow anti-submarine warfare vessel "Agraya." They were built by Garden Reach Shipbuilding and Engineers Limited (GRSE), marking a significant milestone in indigenous defense manufacturing.
The Advanced Guided Missile Frigate 'Dunagiri' is one of the most sophisticated platforms. Measuring 149 meters long and weighing 6,670 tons, the frigate is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, including advanced missile systems and an integrated battle management system.
"Equipped with BrahMos anti-ship and land-attack cruise missiles as well as advanced defence systems, Dunagiri is a significant leap forward in naval attack and defence capabilities," an official said. The ship, named Sanshodhak, is a survey vessel. With a displacement of about 3,400 tonnes and an overall length of 110 metres, Sanshodhak is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment.
Agraya is the fourth of the Arnala-class anti-submarine warfare vessels. It is a redesign of INS Agraya, a patrol vessel that was decommissioned in 2017. It is capable of full-scale subsurface surveillance, search, and attack missions, as well as coordinated operations with aircraft, and is equipped with lightweight torpedoes and anti-submarine warfare missiles.
