
News Topical, Digital Desk : India on Thursday successfully test-fired two indigenously developed short-range ballistic missiles- Prithvi-2 and Agni-1. The Defence Ministry confirmed the successful launch of the two, saying they met all mission objectives.
According to the information, on 17 July 2025, short-range ballistic missiles Prithvi-2 and Agni-1 were successfully tested from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. All operational and technical parameters were confirmed in these tests. These tests were conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).
Features of Prithvi-2 missile-
- It is a nuclear-capable, surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile.
- Its range is 350 kilometers.
- It has been indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- This missile is capable of hitting its target with high accuracy.
Specialty of Agni-1 missile-
- This is also a short range ballistic missile.
- This has also been developed by DRDO.
- It is a single stage missile.
- The test of Agni-1 was also successful. It met all the operational and technical parameters.
Agni-1 was tested from the Abdul Kalam Island, while Prithvi-2 was tested some time later from launch pad number-3 of the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
