Rahul Gandhi wrote, “My brother-in-law Robert Vadra is being harassed by this government for the last 10 years and this charge sheet is also a part of the same political vendetta.”

The Congress party has also supported Vadra. Party general secretary Randeep Surjewala said that there is nothing illegal in this land deal. Since when did buying or selling land become a crime?

What is the matter?

Let us tell you, on July 18, ED filed a chargesheet against Robert Vadra and his company Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited. This case is related to the purchase of 3.53 acres of land in Sector-83 of Gurugram.

The land was purchased in February 2008. The ED alleges that fake documents were used for the deal and Vadra got the commercial license due to his influence.

On July 16, the agency had attached 43 properties in the name of Vadra, his company and others. Their value is said to be around Rs 37.64 crore.

Robert Vadra's response

Robert Vadra's office called the chargesheet a political conspiracy and said that this is another attack by the government. They said that we have been cooperating in the past and will continue to do so. We have full faith that the truth will come out and Robert Vadra will be proved innocent.
