
News Topical, Digital Desk : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu offered prayers at the historic Jakhu temple in Shimla on Friday (July 18). He also prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state. On this occasion, he also participated in the installation ceremony of 108 feet high Hanuman flag in the temple premises.
After offering prayers at the temple, CM Sukhu while talking to the media said that the people of the state have special faith in Jakhu temple. The tallest statue of Lord Hanuman has been installed here and the state government is making efforts to make this temple more attractive from the spiritual and tourism point of view.
He said that the work of installing the statue of Lord Shri Ram in the temple premises is also proposed and some procedural formalities related to the Forest Conservation Act are being completed. He said that parking, seating arrangements and other basic facilities for the devotees will also be improved here and special attention will also be paid to environmental balance in this work.
CM Sukhu also said that the state government is working day and night to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected people and to repair the damage caused by the natural disaster. The Leader of Opposition is also in constant touch with him as his constituency has suffered the most damage. Apart from this, Dharampur, Karsog and Nachan areas have also suffered a lot due to rain.
The Chief Minister said that during his recent visit to Delhi, he apprised the Union Ministers about the damage caused by the disaster in the state and requested for assistance. He expressed hope that when the Union Home Minister visits Himachal Pradesh, the state will definitely get some relief from the Central Government.
Sukhu said that rehabilitation of the affected people is the top priority of the state government. Those whose houses have been damaged will be rehabilitated on non-forest land while the approval of the central government will be necessary for the allotment of forest land.
First of all, the government's priority is to restore roads in the disaster-affected areas so that orchardists can easily transport apples, vegetables and other crops to the market. Apart from this, the government will also provide adequate compensation to those whose houses, cattle sheds, cattle or other property have been destroyed.
The Chief Minister said that relief camps have been set up in rest houses for the affected families. The state government will provide Rs. 5,000 per month as rent assistance to those who want to live in rented houses.
