News Topical, Digital Desk : An American Jewish advocacy group has strongly criticized White House trade advisor Peter Navarro for targeting India for buying Russian oil. The group said that New Delhi is not responsible for the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The group called for a reset of US-India relations.

Members of the Trump administration have stepped up their criticism of India in recent days for buying oil from Moscow, which they say is funding Russian President Vladimir Putin's war machine in the Ukraine conflict.

India is not responsible for Putin's war crimes

The American Jewish Committee said it was shocked and troubled by the continued attacks on India by US officials. Navarro's comments are outrageous accusations. We regret India's dependence on Russian oil for energy, but India is not responsible for Putin's war crimes. It is a fellow democracy and an important strategic partner of the United States. It also has a vital role in the competition among superpowers. It is time to reset this important relationship.

Trump imposed additional tariffs on India

It is worth noting that Navarro has been continuously targeting India for the last few days after the sharp deterioration in relations between Washington and New Delhi over President Donald Trump's trade and tariff policies. Trump has imposed 25 percent reciprocal duty on India and an additional 25 percent duty on India on the purchase of Russian oil. India has termed the duties imposed on it as unfair.
