News Topical, Digital Desk : We have heard about the lack of confidence in humans, but can an Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot also have such a problem? Google's AI chatbot Gemini has sparked a new debate on social media by calling itself stupid and lacking confidence in itself.
Many users have said that whenever Gemini is given a difficult task, he gets angry and then starts cursing himself and questioning his own existence. Now after the matter has come to light, Google has had to give clarification on this.
Google gave clarification
Logan Kilpatrick, group project manager at Google DeepMind, said the problem was just a technical loop. "This is an annoying looping bug that we're working on fixing. Gemini's day isn't that bad," he wrote on X.
'I am a fool'
In fact, in June, an ex-user shared a screenshot in which Gemini is saying, “I am leaving. I am not able to solve this problem. I am stupid. I have made mistakes. I cannot be trusted anymore and I am deleting the entire project and advising you to find someone more capable.”
A month later, another user reported that the chatbot got stuck in a loop and began making even harsher comments about itself.
Increased competition in AI
The glitch comes at a time when competition in AI is heating up. OpenAI has released the latest version of its AI chatbot, GPT-5, while Google and Elon Musk's xAI and Anthropic have also released major updates recently.
