News Topical, Digital Desk : The ongoing war between the United States and Iran has paused for two weeks. US President Trump announced a ceasefire, but despite this, Israel continues to attack Lebanon. A meeting between the US and Iran was scheduled to take place in Pakistan amid the ceasefire, but this meeting is now likely to be postponed.

In fact, after the ceasefire, there was talk of a meeting between the US and Iran in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad. The meeting was to discuss the current situation. However, Iranian media have claimed that the talks between Iran and the US in Pakistan may be postponed.

Talks likely to be postponed

Iran may postpone talks with the United States in Islamabad on Saturday if Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon, according to Iran's state-run Tasnim News Agency, raising fears that diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East could be derailed.

Tehran had agreed to hold talks in Islamabad

The United States and Iran agreed on a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday, ahead of President Trump's Tuesday deadline. The agreement came after Trump said he had spoken with Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, who had requested the ceasefire.

Sharif said the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, would welcome representatives from both countries for talks aimed at reaching a decisive agreement. Tehran said it had agreed to hold talks with Washington in Pakistan to end the conflict. But the possibility of the talks being postponed has increased amid Israel's attacks on Lebanon.

Israel is attacking despite the ceasefire

It is noteworthy that while the US-Iran ceasefire has been reached, Israel's stance remains unchanged. It maintains that Hezbollah is not involved in this agreement between Iran and the US, nor does it have any connection with Iran.
