
News Topical, Digital Desk : Following the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the number of polling stations in Uttar Pradesh is going to increase. In fact, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa said on Monday that there will not be more than 1200 voters at any polling station. This change will increase the number of polling stations by about 12% in the entire state and in some districts this figure may be even higher.
According to Rinwa, this step will directly benefit the voters as they will not have to stand in long queues to vote. This system will make the voting process more smooth.
Emphasis on electoral roll revision
In the Commissioner's Auditorium in Meerut, detailed training was given to the District Magistrates/District Election Officers of 15 districts regarding electoral roll revision, election process and related rules and regulations. Chief Election Officer Navdeep Rinwa presided over this training program.
During the training, Rinwa gave detailed information about rectifying errors in the voter list, training booth level officers (BLOs) and various instructions from the provisions of the Constitution to the Representation of the People Act-1950. He also told that the voter list is prepared from a database called 'ERO Net'.
Appointment of BLO
He informed that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the BLOs are being appointed as per the instructions of the officers to be appointed as BLOs. He informed that on Monday, training of 15 District Election Officers is being held in Meerut district of western Uttar Pradesh.
Attention to features
He said that this is the first time that such an intensive one-day training is being given on voter list apart from the election period. He said that instructions have been given to ensure basic facilities at all polling booths - drinking water, separate toilets for men and women, lighting, signage, ramps for the disabled etc.
