News Topical, Digital Desk : News of a major road accident has emerged from Telangana. A horrific road accident occurred in the state's Rangareddy district on Monday morning. A bus collided with a dump truck, killing 20 people. Several others were injured.

According to police, a dumper truck carrying gravel collided head-on with a roadways bus in the district. The death toll is expected to rise. The bus was carrying mostly children and office-goers, and several of them have died.

The injured were sent to the hospital

According to reports, 18 people were injured in the accident and were taken to a nearby hospital. Officials said the dumper collided with a Telangana Road Transport Corporation (RTC) vehicle near Chevella, causing gravel to fall on the bus. 

Regarding the incident, police said, "A road accident occurred between a TGSRTC bus and a truck near Khanapur Gate under the Chevella police station in Rangareddy district. The incident occurred this morning. We have reached the spot and more details will be provided later."

These instructions were given to the officers

Meanwhile, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed his deep sorrow over the serious road accident. According to an official statement, Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar spoke with TGSRTC MD Nagi Reddy and the Rangareddy district collector over the phone and directed them to take necessary steps to provide adequate medical care to the injured.

Officials say the accident occurred when a tipper truck coming from the wrong side of the road hit the bus. The minister directed TGSRTC officials to immediately reach the accident site. 

There were 70 people on the bus

Initial reports claim that the RTC bus was traveling from Tandur to Hyderabad, carrying around 70 passengers. Most of the passengers were children and office-goers. Many of these students reportedly attended various colleges in Hyderabad and were returning home due to Sunday's holiday. Traffic on the Hyderabad-Bijapur highway came to a halt following the accident.
