News Topical, Digital Desk : In Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, an old man died after being beaten up for demanding his wages. The incident took place in Naya Ramnagar area of Orai Kotwali area. The victim had been working as a bonded labourer for local moneylenders for nearly 40 years.
When he demanded his wages, the moneylender and his family members beat him brutally, after which he lay in a dying state. Later his family members admitted him to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
The relatives of the deceased gave this information
According to the family members, the victim had been working as a bonded labourer for a moneylender's family for several decades. He demanded his wages as he was not getting proper remuneration for his labour. Angered by this, the moneylender and his family members started beating the old man mercilessly. The beating was so severe that he fell down on the spot and his condition became critical.
After the incident, the family took the old man to the district hospital, where doctors started treating him. However, he breathed his last late at night. Doctors said the cause of death was serious injuries and excessive bleeding.
The victim's nephew lodged a complaint with the police
The deceased's nephew Santosh Kumar has lodged a complaint with the police and has accused five people including the moneylender of murder. He says that he was beaten to death after being made to do bonded labour for a long time and then demanding his wages.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of the family members and have started investigation based on the statements of the family members of the deceased. The in-charge of Orai Kotwali said that immediate action is being taken in view of the seriousness of the case. A case has been registered against the accused under stringent legal sections. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused soon.
