Indora and Fatehpur areas have been completely affected. People's lives have been disrupted. In this sequence, Arni University located in Indora assembly constituency got flooded late at night. Seeing the situation worsening, the local administration and the NDRF team carried out a rescue operation of the students living in the university and took more than 300 students to safe places.

ADM Shilpi Bekta in Dharamshala said that BBMV was informed in advance that water will be released from Pong Dam. This process has been going on continuously for the last one week. ADM said that our primary goal is to evacuate all the people safely and take them to the shelter. Currently, a rescue shelter has been built in Fatehpur where 127 people from 27 families are staying. Three shelters have been set up in Indora, where about 820 people are staying. ADM said that the full assessment of the damage can be done only after the water level of the Beas river decreases.

'85 quintals of ration was also lost to the flood'

Meanwhile, news of devastation has also come from the remote area of ​​Bara Bhangal in Kangra district. There was a cloudburst in Bara Bhangal on Tuesday evening, information about which reached the administration through the Panchayat Secretary on Wednesday (27 August) morning. The ADM said that in this disaster, the Panchayat house, ration depot (which had stored 60 quintals of ration), government school, Ayurvedic dispensary and the bridge being built on the Ravi river have been completely washed away. Not only this, 85 quintals of ration sent in advance also fell prey to the flood. At present, about 300 local people and 150 nomadic cattle herders are present in Bara Bhangal.

'188 quintals of ration sent additionally'

The arrangement of medicines and ration there remains a challenge for the administration. At present, ration for 10 days is available there and 188 quintals of ration has been sent additionally. ADM said that the easiest way was to deliver the supplies by helicopter, but due to continuous clouds and fog on the Dhauladhar hills, the flight was not possible. Meanwhile, for establishing contact, satellite phone has been sent from Baijnath to Bada Bhangal and the Panchayat Pradhan is in constant touch with the administration.
