News Topical, Digital Desk : Days after a Class 7 student of Sainik School in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district was found dead, his sister has alleged that he was harassed and threatened by senior students a night before his death.
The victim's sister, Tadu Lunia, a former Miss Arunachal 2024, released a video on Instagram describing what happened to her 12-year-old brother, Haro.
Ragging came to light after Haro's death.
Lunia said the school administration initially told the family that Haro had committed suicide. However, after speaking with his classmates and dorm mates, the family learned about the alleged ragging and physical abuse.
What did Luniya allege?
According to Luniya, his brother's hostel mates told the family that on October 31, eight Class 10 students and three Class 8 students barged into the Class 7 hostel at night when no warden was present.
Luniya said the senior students allegedly forced all the students except Haro to cover themselves with blankets and then took him to the Class 10 dormitory. "Eyewitnesses said my brother was not allowed to sleep and was mentally and physically tortured for hours. No one knows what happened behind closed doors," Luniya said, breaking down in tears.
"I lost my brother today, if we don't take the right steps now, it could happen to anyone tomorrow," he said, urging the people of the state to stand with the family in their fight for justice.
