News Topical, Digital Desk : A new case of fraud has come to light in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where people seeking to purchase vehicles were lured by promising low prices. The fraudsters lured a young man with the promise of a substantial discount. Two individuals from a fake company defrauded a man in the Beta-2 area of ₹2.2 million. The victim filed a report at the police station, following which the police began investigating the matter.
The victim gave this information
Dinesh Kumar Bhati, son of Surendra Singh Bhati, a resident of Gurjar Colony, Dadri, Greater Noida, said he was looking to purchase a new Scorpio car for his personal use. He saw an advertisement on an online website that claimed to offer vehicles quickly and at a significant discount.
Impressed by the advertisement, he called the contact number provided and met Mohammad Asif Ali and Mohammad Arif. The accused identified themselves as the owners of a legitimate company and claimed to be involved in the sale and purchase of cars. Their office was reportedly located in the Alpha-1, Beta-2 police station area.
Cheated by showing fake documents
To convince the victim, the accused showed him several company documents and promised to get him a new Scorpio at a very low price. Believing this, Dinesh Bhati handed over a total of 2.2 million rupees in installments.
It's noteworthy that after paying the money, neither did the car arrive, nor did the accused provide any clear answers. When the victim investigated himself, he discovered that the company was registered on the basis of fraudulent documents and had been defrauding people for a long time by luring them with cheap vehicles. When the victim applied pressure, the accused closed the office and fled.
What did the police say on the matter?
According to information, Inspector Vinod Kumar, in-charge of Beta-2 police station, stated that a case has been registered based on the victim's complaint. Police have raided the accused's hideouts and formed teams to arrest them. Preliminary investigations have revealed that this is an organized gang that lures people through online advertisements and fake companies.
The police have urged citizens to thoroughly verify the authenticity of any vehicle, property, or investment-related online deal before trusting it. Incidents of such frauds have increased in Greater Noida recently, making it crucial to remain vigilant.
