News Topical, Digital Desk : Uttar Pradesh's first State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) will be ready in two months. 95 percent of the construction work of the first phase of SIHM being built by the Yogi government in Gorakhpur at a cost of Rs 48.39 crore has been completed. The Tourism Department has targeted to complete 100 percent of the work by the end of next month.
In the last few years, the tourism and hospitality sector of Gorakhpur has grown rapidly. Many big brand hotels and restaurants have opened here and many are in the process of opening. Seeing the demand for skilled professionals in the hospitality sector, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is building the state's first State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Gorakhpur.
The construction of the institute will be completed by this month
The construction of SIHM being built in front of the office of Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority will be completed by September and from the next academic session, diploma and degree courses related to hotel and tourism management will start being conducted here.
State Institute of Hotel Management is a project of the Tourism Department. Its construction is being done by C&DS Unit-14 as the implementing agency. Construction work on this project started on 26 September 2023. At present, 95 percent of the work has been completed by spending more than Rs 38.42 crore and the work is to be completed by 25 September this year.
These works are being completed in the first phase
In the first phase of construction, works of administrative room, class room, common hall, kitchen, underground parking, electrification, fire safety, pipeline etc. are being completed in two blocks.
Deputy Director Tourism Rajendra Prasad Yadav Mishra says that the construction work of the State Institute of Hotel Management will be completed by next month (September), finishing work is going on at present. It can be inaugurated anytime after next month.
Courses will start from the next academic session
It is expected that from the next academic session, courses in hotel, tourism and hospitality management will be started here as per the global demand. After the course starts in the State Institute of Hotel Management, the youth will get new options for employment-oriented studies.
The way tourism is developing in Gorakhpur due to the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , employment opportunities in the hotel and hospitality sector are also increasing rapidly.
Construction of Boys and Girls Hostel also started in the second phase
Boys and Girls Hostel is being built in the second phase of construction of State Institute of Hotel Management. The construction of the second phase project will cost Rs 46.81 crore. The construction work has started from May 15.
At present, the physical progress of the construction work is 14 percent. The Tourism Department hopes that the work will be completed by May 2027. In the second phase of the SIHM project, a five-storey boys hostel with 128 rooms and a five-storey girls hostel with 84 rooms are being built.
