Gopalganj's strongman former MP Kali Prasad Pandey passed away, breathed his last in Delhi hospital:

News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Gopalganj MP Kali Prasad Pandey, who gained the fame of 'Sher-e-Bihar', died on Friday (22 August). He breathed his last at 9:30 pm on Friday night at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. He was ill for the last few months. The news of his death has created a wave of mourning. He has left behind his wife Manju Mala, brother and BJP MLC Aditya Narayan Pandey, sons Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dheeraj Kumar Pandey, Bablu Pandey and his entire family.

When Kali Prasad Pandey, son of late Bhagan Pandey, a resident of Ramjita village of Vishambarpur police station area, came to his senses, he tried to curb the crime of the Jungle Party by forming an organization of youth against them in the area near the Gandak river. He reached the assembly for the first time in 1980 by winning the election of MLA from Gopalganj assembly constituency. After that he never looked back.

Kali Prasad Pandey defeated Nagina Rai by record votes

While being an MLA, he had to go to jail in a murder case. During this time, he had earned the title of Bahubali. In the 1984 Lok Sabha elections, there was a wave of Congress after the assassination of the country's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Then Kali Prasad Pandey contested the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from jail. Amidst the Congress wave, he reached the Lok Sabha by defeating the Congress candidate, former MP Nagina Rai, by record votes.

Kali Prasad Pandey was involved in many parties

Due to his courage and dominance in the society, he was known as 'Sher-e-Bihar'. After Kali Prasad Pandey won the election, the film Pratighat was also in the news, seeing his dominance. In contrast to the wave of Indira Gandhi in Bihar, young MP Kali Prasad Pandey reached the Lok Sabha as an independent candidate from Gopalganj. Seeing his influence, former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi gave him Congress membership. After that, he contested elections by going to Congress, RJD, LJP and then Congress but did not succeed. There is a wave of mourning in the entire district due to his death.
