News Topical, Digital Desk : Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) witnessed its second protest in less than a month. Hundreds of young people took to the streets on Thursday. According to reports, Gen Z is leading the movement in PoK this time.
Actually, this protest against Pakistan's Shahbaz Sharif government in PoK started from the University of Muzaffarabad, where students demonstrated demanding increased fees and better facilities.
Students caused property damage
The protest was initially peaceful, but turned violent after shots were fired by an unknown person. One student was reportedly injured. Following the incident, angry students burned tires, set fires at several locations, and damaged property.
Numerous videos of these protests are rapidly going viral on social media. Some of the videos show students becoming agitated and expressing their anger against the Shahbaz Sharif government. Meanwhile, viral posts on the internet claim that, after Bangladesh and Nepal, the Gen Z movement in PoK has now made things difficult for the Pakistani government and military.
Why did the university students get angry?
It is noteworthy that the results of the first-year Intermediate exams were released on October 30th. Some students received low marks, which angered the university administration. It is alleged that many students were declared passed in subjects for which they had not even taken the exam. Following this, the students protested against the university administration.
There was a violent protest last month as well
It's worth noting that last month, Occupied Kashmir witnessed violent protests, resulting in the deaths of 12 civilians. Students and local residents demanded the government fulfill a total of 30 demands, including reduced prices for flour and electricity, and tax relief.
