News Topical, Digital Desk : Housing projects developed decades ago in the capital are about to undergo a facelift. In the first phase, a proposal will be prepared to redevelop multi-story buildings on Wazir Hasan Road, Paper Mill Colony, and Kanpur Road Scheme, Sector G. These colonies currently feature G+3 structures with limited amenities; skyscrapers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will be constructed there. The LDA has taken steps to redevelop its old housing projects.
The government has recently implemented the Uttar Pradesh Urban Redevelopment Policy-2026, in which emphasis has been laid on development and upgradation of facilities through redevelopment in urban areas.
In 1988, the authority had constructed multi-storey buildings.
In this regard, LDA Vice President Prathamesh Kumar has issued an order directing officials to prepare a detailed proposal. He explained that the authority had constructed multi-story buildings on Wazir Hasan Road in Hazratganj in 1988.
The scheme consists of four G+3 structure towers with a total of 64 flats. A preliminary survey of the scheme was conducted, and registration of 60 flats has been completed. Registration of three flats is pending at the allottee level, while one flat has not yet been allotted.
Meanwhile, in Sector G of the Kanpur Road Scheme, 1,000 double-story buildings were constructed in 1990. Most of these buildings are occupied illegally.
The Vice President stated that a proposal for the redevelopment of this project will also be prepared. The proposal will be prepared after surveying and testing the old buildings located in the Paper Mill Colony.
Facilities will be provided, allottees will also be accommodated
These buildings, built four decades ago, are in a dilapidated condition. Planned parks and parking areas are encroached upon. Many flats are occupied by unauthorized individuals instead of the original allottees, despite the scheme's prime location.
Under the redevelopment policy, multi-story apartments will be built here, providing better housing facilities. Additionally, old allottees will be accommodated in the redeveloped buildings.
