News Topical, Digital Desk : The pressure exerted by Israel, which is preparing to completely occupy Gaza, seems to be working. Hamas, which is leading the movement in Palestine, has offered Israel a 60-day ceasefire. It has also said that half of the hostages will be released. In return, Israel will also have to release some Palestinians imprisoned in jails.
Israeli media has confirmed receiving the proposal from Hamas, but Israel has not yet given an official response. In a video released by the Prime Minister's Office, Benjamin Netanyahu said that like you, I have also received information from the media and from this you can easily guess that Hamas is under tremendous pressure.
Egyptian official sources said that this agreement is in line with the plan previously suggested by US special envoy Steve Witkoff, which Israel has accepted. Mediators held a meeting with Hamas representatives, Qatari Prime Minister Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian President Al Sisi in Cairo and discussed the new proposal.
Palestinians fleeing Gaza
Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing their homes in Gaza City's eastern suburbs, fearing an Israeli ground offensive, and are fleeing west and south of the devastated area. Ahmed Mahesen, a Palestinian shelter manager in Beit Lahiya, said 995 families had fled the area south in recent days.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said that 60 people have died in the latest Israeli attack. More than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed in the 22-month-long war in Gaza. Seven Palestinians were killed on Monday morning while trying to get aid. Five more Palestinian civilians died of malnutrition and hunger in the last 24 hours. Thus, 263 people have died of hunger since October 7, 2023, including 112 children.
