News Topical, Digital Desk : FIIs Data: After three months of continuous selling, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have made a strong comeback in the Indian stock markets in October. Foreign investors, led by France, the US and Germany, have once again expressed confidence in the Indian equity and debt markets.

Net purchases of $1.66 billion in October
According to Moneycontrol's report, as per NSDL data, FIIs made net purchases of $1.66 billion (about ₹13,800 crore) in the Indian equity market in October 2025. This is the first time since June 2025 that foreign investors became net buyers in the Indian markets. In September, FPIs had sold $2.7 billion.

France emerged as the largest investor.

In October, France invested $2.58 billion in Indian equities and $152 million in the debt market. This is the most of any country.

The United States and Germany followed, with $520 million each in equities and $765 million and $309 million in debt instruments, respectively. Other countries also responded positively.

  • Ireland: $400 million in equity and $138 million in debt
  • Malaysia: $342 million in equity and $68 million in debt
  • Hong Kong: $177 million equity investment
  • Denmark and Norway: Both invested around $100 million in equity


Although Singapore sold $98 million from equities, it invested $260 million in the debt market, maintaining a positive net position. Other countries together sold approximately $3 billion. The Indian market witnessed a strong rally in October, driven by the return of foreign investors. The Sensex and Nifty both rose 4.5%. The BSE MidCap Index gained 4.7%, and the BSE SmallCap Index gained 3.22%.
