News Topical, Digital Desk : The Institute of Engineering and Technology's (IET) anti-ragging committee began an investigation on Monday into the incident of juniors being invited to an off-campus cafe and vandalizing a hostel. During the interrogation, students revealed several shocking facts, including that seniors had asked juniors to create fake social media accounts to defame IET and DAVV.

Each student was even forced to post from two Instagram, X, and Facebook accounts. Seniors created WhatsApp groups and issued instructions to juniors. Significantly, the vandalism in the hostel was carried out at the behest of the seniors. Juniors also destroyed CCTV cameras and DVRs.

Students were threatened by seniors

The committee summoned the hostel students. First, they checked their mobile phones. A WhatsApp group was found containing messages from seniors. Students were instructed to visit off-campus cafes and bring their mobile phones and laptops. Seniors threatened the students and forced them to post against IET and DAVV on two social media accounts.

Two to three posts were required daily. Seniors organized a Garba event organized by an organization. Tickets were also kept for the event, which students were asked to sell. The cafe meeting was strictly confidential. Juniors were also instructed on WhatsApp groups about how to live in the hostel.

The committee also reviewed WhatsApp chats in which seniors discussed damaging the hostel. At their behest, juniors damaged CCTV cameras and DVRs. Upon closer questioning, the names of other seniors, including Adarsh ​​Makwana, Aditya Sharma, Aman Patel, and Vivek Sharma, surfaced.

The committee has recommended recovering damages from juniors for causing damage to the hostel. The university will file a written complaint with the Bhanwarkuan police station regarding defamation of the institution. The police will investigate the matter.
