News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday took a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, saying he will not rest until justice is served in the case of a female doctor's alleged suicide in Satara district. He also said he will not tolerate attempts to politicize the matter.
Meanwhile, suspended police sub-inspector Gopal Badne, who was arrested in the case, has been remanded in police custody till October 30. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed the doctor's alleged suicide as "institutional murder" and claimed that his death exposes the "inhuman and insensitive" nature of the BJP-led government.
Fadnavis had arrived to lay the foundation stone
After inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for several development projects in Phaltan, Satara, Fadnavis said, "Attempts were made to prevent me from attending this event. Former MP Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar and local MLA Sachin Patil were linked to the matter. If I had even the slightest suspicion, I would have cancelled my visit myself."
The Chief Minister also said that he would not tolerate attempts to politicize the doctor's death. Earlier, State Minister Pankaja Munde and former minister Dhananjay Munde visited the doctor's family at their home in Beed district and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. Significantly, the doctor, a resident of Beed district in the Marathwada region of central Maharashtra and posted at a government hospital in Satara district, was found hanging in a hotel room in Phaltan town on Thursday night.
In a suicide note written on her palm, she alleged that police sub-inspector Gopal Badane raped her on several occasions, while software engineer Prashant Bankar mentally tortured her. The sub-inspector and engineer were arrested on Saturday.
