Mumbai: The film Tikdam, which won the Special Mention Film Award at the Jagran Film Festival 2023, has been released on Jio Cinema.

What is the story of the film?

The story begins with Prakash (Amit Sial) working in a hotel at the tourist spot Sukhtal, who is happy with his children even with a low salary. He is not ready to leave his children and parents even if he gets double the salary.

There has been no snow in Sukhtal for many years, due to which the hotel is closed. Prakash himself is managing with torn shoes and is unable to fulfill the wishes of his children. He gets a job in Mumbai from the hotel.

When his children Chini (Arohi Saud) and Samay (Arisht Jain) come to know that their father is going to the city to work, they along with their school friend Bhanu (Divyansh Dwivedi) make several plans to get snow to fall in Sukhtal so that their father, who has lost his job due to lack of tourism and has gone to other cities far away from home, can come back. Their slogan is 'Get snow, bring father'.

The emotional bond between father and child

The story of the film is by Animesh Verma, while its screenplay and dialogues are written by Pankaj Nihalani and Vivek Anchaliya. The most beautiful thing about the film is its simplicity, which gives an important message through children without any noise. It shows the unbreakable bond between father and children by dipping it in the syrup of emotions.

This is Vivek's first feature film, his grip on direction is strong. He has not kept unnecessary long and slow scenes anywhere in the film. Neither has he shown any miracle to make snow fall in Sukhtal.

Snow is not falling because global warming has increased. Therefore, the film moves forward in a light-hearted manner while talking to children on many issues like save trees, ban on plastic, stop pollution. The children not only use tricks to stop their father, but also use many tricks to save the environment, which are fun to watch.

The father says that the bird goes out to get food, so I will also have to go. On this the children say that the bird comes back every night, will you come back every night? Or Chini stopping her father from putting clothes in the suitcase... these scenes full of innocence are emotional.

Some things are troubling, like the language in which she speaks is not understood by anyone except her brother. She writes correctly, then why does she talk like this, her father does not seem to have any problem with this problem of hers.

Amit Sial removed the negative image

Actor Amit Sial deserves full marks for his acting. He looks perfect in every role, the responsibilities of being a single father, a good son to his parents, honest in his professional life. Looking at him, it is hard to believe that he is known for negative roles. The three kids Aarohi Saud, Samay and Divyansh Dwivedi are a small packet big blast.

Nayan Bhatt's work as the strict mother and grandmother is excellent. Ajit Sarvottam Kelkar is good in the role of Daadu. Especially when he explains the real things of life to his grandchildren while telling them stories, it makes us understand the importance of having elders in the house.

Cinematographer Parth Sayani has left no stone unturned in capturing the beauty of Sukhtal. Baadal ke aage chal jakar jhanke, Chanda ke upar ek jhula bandhe…, Zindagi hai ye khel ek pyare…, Kya na utha le cheanti jo jhund ho saath ikketha… All these songs not only make the story of the film interesting but also take it forward through songs without any dialogues.
