New Delhi: The South Industry has been shaken after the Justice Hema Committee's report on the Malayalam film industry. Many actresses have spoken about the sexual abuse they faced. On the other hand, seeing themselves surrounded from all sides in this campaign, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMIMA) president Mohanlal and its office bearers resigned.
Now actress Parvati, who was recently seen in the movie Tangalan, has reacted to this. She has called this move 'cowardly' for not accepting the seriousness of the issue.
Mass resignation is an attempt to escape
Speaking to Barkha Dutt's new channel Mojo Story, Parvati said, "After hearing the news of mass resignations, I was thinking how cowardly these people are that they stepped down from a position where they were accountable to talk to the media." The actress said that this is an attempt to escape accountability. Because of this, the entire responsibility has again fallen on the women to take this issue forward.
Parvati raised many serious questions
Parvathy further expressed her anger and raised several important questions. She said, “This is the same executive committee that welcomed the prime accused in the 2017 sexual harassment case while the case was still going on. This is the same executive committee that claimed that none of these things actually existed until the allegations against them surfaced. Moreover, it was very negligent of the government to make such statements.”
Responsibility is placed on women
She further added, 'If women have a complaint, they should just file an FIR and name the names. My question has always been what proof of justice can you show to demand that we name and shame? What happens to our careers, lives, legal fees and mental health issues after that? Nobody cares. Why is it, again and again, that the responsibility is put on women to take care of problems that are not caused by us?
