News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid the ever-changing tech world due to the growing dominance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Google has announced a new round of Voluntary Exit Packages (VEP) for its Global Business Organization (GBO) employees.
In fact, Google's Chief Business Officer, Philip Schendler, has clarified that employees must be fully aligned with the AI mission, with the company now only looking to move forward with professionals who are fully committed to Google's 'AI-first' mission.
This is the third time in a year
Meanwhile, employees who are unable to adapt to the fast-paced environment are being offered the opportunity to leave the company gracefully. This is Google's third such initiative in a year, demonstrating its efforts to prepare its workforce for future challenges without forced layoffs.
Instructions for voluntarily leaving the company
According to Business Insider, Google's Chief Business Officer Philip Chandler said in an internal memo that some employees in the Global Business Organization (GBO) unit may choose to voluntarily leave the company.
"Thanks to everything you achieved in 2025, we are starting the year in a strong position. But the game is dynamic, the pace is intense, and the stakes are high," Philip Chandler wrote in the memo.
Focus on AI-First
Google executive Philip Schendler has made it clear that all employees need to make an even greater impact by fully embracing AI (AI-First). This ultimatum is a direct one from Google to employees who feel unable to keep up with Google's rapidly expanding AI dominance
Philip Chandler said that for employees who are not interested in working, the company is providing an option in which compensation will be given instead of layoff.
Additionally, Chandler said that large customer sales teams in the US and employees in other customer-facing roles will not be impacted.
