Elon Musk will visit India, after talking to PM Modi on phone he said- 'It is an honour for me'

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday announced that he is looking forward to visiting India later this year. The statement came after his telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The conversation reflected the continued dialogue between the two leaders on promoting cooperation in technology and innovation.

"It was an honour to speak to PM Modi. I look forward to visiting India later this year," Musk said in a post on social media platform X.

PM Narendra Modi also shared details of their conversation on X. "Spoke to Elon Musk and discussed a wide range of issues, including those covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for cooperation in the areas of technology and innovation. India is committed to furthering its partnership with the US in these areas," he wrote.

Former Met Foundation in Washington DC

The conversation builds on their in-person meeting at Blair House in Washington DC in February this year. During that meeting, Modi and Musk discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in key areas such as space research, AI, innovation and sustainable development.

"The Prime Minister and Elon Musk discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in innovation, space research, AI, and sustainable development. Their discussions also covered opportunities to deepen cooperation in emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and good governance," the Ministry of External Affairs had said in a statement at the time.

During that meeting, Musk, who also heads the US Department of State Efficiency (DOGE), was accompanied by his three children. Referring to their presence, PM Modi had posted, "It was also a pleasure to meet Elon Musk's family and discuss a wide range of topics."

He had also shared, "Had a very good meeting with Elon Musk in Washington DC. We discussed a wide range of issues, including topics he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology and innovation. I spoke about India's reforms and efforts to pursue 'minimum government, maximum governance'."

India-US cooperation reaches new heights

Elon Musk's upcoming visit to India is expected to further strengthen India-US cooperation in high technology areas. Potential investments and new opportunities for cooperation are likely to be discussed during this visit. This could be an important step to promote partnership between the two countries in areas such as technology, innovation and sustainable development.
