News Topical, Digital Desk : More than 20 children have died in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan after consuming toxic Coldrif cough syrup. This cough syrup has been banned in several states, including Madhya Pradesh. Another major action has been taken against Srisan Pharma, the Tamil Nadu-based company that manufactured the syrup.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided several pharma-related premises on Monday. However, more details regarding the raid are yet to be released. It should be noted that Srisan Pharma manufactures Coldrif cough syrup.

The owner of the company has been arrested

A case has been registered against this pharmaceutical company. Ranganathan, the owner of the pharmaceutical company Srsen Pharma, was recently arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in Chennai. The ED is now conducting raids on premises associated with the company.

It is worth noting that 22 children have died in Madhya Pradesh after consuming Coldrif cough syrup. Children in Rajasthan have also lost their lives after consuming this syrup.

Coldrif syrup banned in many states

In Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, more than 20 children died after consuming Coldrif cough syrup. The state government, as a precautionary measure, banned the sale of the drug. Subsequently, the sale of Coldrif cough syrup was banned in several states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Bengal.

Doctors gave this advice

It's worth noting that this incident in Madhya Pradesh has shaken people. Meanwhile, doctors have stated that giving children medication without prior advice can be dangerous. Pediatricians explain that consuming syrups thins mucus, which newborns are unable to expel. Giving such medications to young children without medical advice could prove harmful.
