News Topical, Digital Desk : Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has taken a tough stance following the horrific bus accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, which claimed the lives of 20 people. He said that drunk drivers are no less than " terrorists " and that the police will show no mercy against such individuals.

"Drunk drivers are terrorists, and their actions amount to terror on the roads. The Kurnool bus accident was not a simple accident, but a massacre caused by drunken negligence," Commissioner Sajjanar wrote on Twitter.

He said the bike rider, B. Shiva Shankar, was drunk. CCTV footage showed him filling up with petrol at 2:24 a.m. and losing control at 2:39 a.m. This accident destroyed many families in an instant.

Investigation into the accident revealed

Investigation revealed that Shiva Shankar and his friend Erri Swami were returning from a night out at a restaurant. Shiva was driving the bike, and Erri was riding pillion. In an inebriated state, Shiva lost control of the bike, hit a divider, and was killed on the spot. The bike became trapped under the bus, causing a fuel leak and a fire. Nineteen passengers on the bus were burned to death in the ensuing fire.

What did the Police Commissioner say?

Sajjanar said, "Our policy is clear: zero tolerance for drunk driving. Anyone caught driving under the influence will face strict legal action. Now, it must be considered a crime, not a mistake." He appealed to society to stop treating drunk driving as a minor offense, as this crime claims many innocent lives.
