News Topical, Digital Desk : The entire state is boiling with anger after the gang rape of a 24-year-old student at Kolkata's South Calcutta Law College (Kolkata Law College Gangrape Case).
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of the incident has revealed the truth of that horrific night when three brutes dragged the student from the college gate to the guard room and allegedly raped her.
The police have arrested four people. These accused are Manojit Mishra, Promit Mukherjee, Zaid Ahmed and the college guard. It is alleged that Manojit raped the student, while the other two made videos so that they could blackmail her later. Manojit is a member of the Trinamool youth wing. However, the party clearly said that he will get the harshest punishment.
Gather evidence from hockey stick and clothes
The police have acted swiftly in this case. Manojit is accused of attacking the victim on the head with a hockey stick. The police have preserved the hockey stick as evidence.
Apart from this, Manojit's red kurta, light brown pants and black shorts were also seized. The police took DNA samples of the three accused and recovered the clothes from their houses (Kalighat, Tiljala and Howrah).
Police also found clumps of hair on the floor of the guard room. "I just lay there like a corpse," the victim wrote in her complaint. Police say CCTV footage clearly shows the victim ran towards the main gate of the college but was forcibly pulled back into the guard room.
The horrifying truth hidden in mobile
Manojit's mobile has become the biggest evidence in this case. Co-accused Zaid Ahmed and Promit Mukherjee made a video of the incident on Manojit's instructions, in which the victim's face is clearly visible. These videos have been sent to the Cyber Forensic Lab in Salt Lake, Kolkata for investigation.
A nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the police searched Promit's house in Howrah on Sunday. During the two-hour long investigation, the team searched his computer. Police say that the victim's family is satisfied with the investigation so far and is hoping for a quick hearing.
