News Topical, Digital Desk : Regarding the reforms in GST, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday (September 04, 2025) that if India has to get a proper place in the global situation, then change with time is very important.

On GST reforms, PM Modi said, “Without timely changes, we cannot give our country its rightful place in today's global situation. This time on 15 August, I had said from the Red Fort that it is very important to make next generation reforms to make India self-reliant. I had also promised the countrymen that there will be a double shower of happiness before this Diwali and Chhath Puja.”

'GST has become even simpler'

PM Modi said, “Now GST has become even simpler. On September 22, which is the first day of Navratri, the next generation reform will come into effect because all these things are definitely related to 'Matri Shakti'.”

'The splendor of Diwali will increase'

He said, this time Dhanteras will be even more vibrant because taxes on dozens of things have been reduced significantly. When GST was implemented 8 years ago, the dream of many decades came true. This was one of the biggest economic reforms of independent India.

Who all will benefit from GST?

The Prime Minister said, as India moves ahead in the 21st century, next-generation reform has been done in GST. GST 2.0 is a double dose of support and growth for the country. Every family in the country will benefit greatly from the new GST reform. The poor, neo-middle class, middle class women, students, farmers, youth... everyone will benefit tremendously from the reduction in GST tax.

'Pancharatnas are connected to Indian economy'

He further said, reforms in GST have added Panchratna to India's magnificent economy. First, the tax system has become much simpler. Second, the quality of life of the citizens of India will increase further. Third, both consumption and growth will get a new booster. Fourth, ease of doing business will boost investment and employment. Fifth, cooperative federalism will become stronger for a developed India.

PM Modi targeted Congress

Attacking the Congress, Prime Minister Modi said, "In the previous governments, a huge amount of tax was levied on goods. Before I came to power in 2014, be it kitchen items, agricultural goods or medicines, even life insurance... the Congress government used to levy different taxes on many such things. If the same era was there, today if you bought something worth Rs. 100, you would have to pay a tax of Rs. 20-25. But the aim of our government is to maximize the savings in the lives of common people and make people's lives better."
