News Topical, Digital Desk : The thorough revision of voter lists, initiated by the Election Commission of India, has been completed in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, Navdeep Rinwa, announced this at a press conference in the capital, Lucknow, on April 10. Uttar Pradesh now has 133.9 million voters, including 73.0 million 71 thousand 61 male voters and 69.9 million 525 female voters.
The five districts where the number of voters has increased the most include Prayagraj - 3 lakh 29 thousand 421, Lucknow - 2 lakh 85 thousand 961, Bareilly - 2 lakh 57 thousand 920, Ghaziabad - 2 lakh 43 thousand 666, Jaunpur - 2 lakh 37 thousand 590.
Assembly-wise, the top five voters are Sahibabad (82,898), Jaunpur (56,118), Lucknow West (54,822), Loni (53,679), and Firozabad (47,757). The Commission stated that the above figures are in comparison to the draft list released on January 6th.
The SIR process lasted 166 days in UP.
During a press conference at the media centre in Lok Bhavan, Rinwa said that the entire process was completed in an impartial manner and keeping in mind the issues of all political parties.
He said that separate enumeration forms were distributed to each voter, and the first phase concluded on December 26th. Following this, the draft list was released in January 2026. A two-month period was given for claims and objections, beginning January 6th. He explained that this campaign lasted 166 days. The list released on January 6th included 125.5 million voters.
What to do if your name is not in today's voter list?
The official said that even if someone's name is missing from today's list, they can join by filling out Form 6. Our voter list is constantly revised.
This list is significant in many ways ahead of the 2027 elections. While the Samajwadi Party claims that many voters' names were deliberately deleted, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserts that the Samajwadi Party lacks trust in constitutional institutions.
