New Delhi: The Delhi High Court will give its verdict on Monday on the petition of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking regular bail in the Excise Policy Scam case and his arrest by the CBI.
Kejriwal has challenged the arrest made by the CBI. The CBI team arrested the Delhi CM in the case on June 26. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21.
Kejriwal is in judicial custody till August 8 in the CBI case
It is noteworthy that on July 25, the Rouse Avenue Court had extended Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody till August 8 in the CBI case related to the excise policy scam. He is currently in judicial custody in Delhi's Tihar Jail in both the CBI and ED cases.
Interim bail has been granted in the ED case
Let us tell you that Kejriwal has got interim bail from the Supreme Court in the money laundering case. In the same case, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and BRS leader K. Kavitha are in judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
CBI files final chargesheet against Kejriwal
Recently, 712 days after registering an FIR and starting investigation in the corruption case related to the excise scam, the CBI filed a comprehensive 200-page chargesheet against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five others in the Rouse Avenue Court. The CBI has completed its investigation in the case.
In this final chargesheet, the CBI has named Kejriwal as the party patron and an individual accused. Apart from Kejriwal, the CBI has filed charges against Aam Aadmi Party's Rajendra Nagar MLA Durgesh Pathak, Aurobindo Pharma's non-executive director Sarath Reddy, Buddy Retail Private Limited's director Amit Arora, entrepreneur Ashish Mathur and hawala operator Vinod Chauhan without arresting them.
Hearing on Kavita's petition postponed till August 7
In the Delhi Excise Policy case, the Rouse Avenue Court today on Monday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of BRS leader K. Kavitha till August 7. The lawyer has sought time for arguments. He has sought default bail in the CBI case related to the excise policy.
