News Topical, Digital Desk : The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a cunning thug who was absconding for the last 10 years and was dodging the police of many states. The accused had been declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
According to the police, the arrested accused is named Dnyaneshwar Kaushik alias Gyan. He is originally a resident of Khajuri Khas, Delhi, but while absconding, he was living in Goa under the fake name Anil Jaiswal.
He used to trap people in the name of fake investmentaccused
According to Delhi Police, the accused started as a telecaller selling insurance. Gradually, he started deceiving people by creating fake investment schemes and fake insurance policies. He also registered a company, which was created only for cheating.
According to the police, the accused and his accomplices duped dozens of people across the country by luring them with fake investment schemes and defrauded them of lakhs of rupees. He also duped a woman living in Dwarka of more than one lakh rupees in the name of investment.
Delhi Police took action as per strategy
Delhi Police had received a tip that the accused Dnyaneshwar Kaushik was hiding in Goa. A special team was formed on this tip. The police team kept a secret surveillance in Goa for two days and finally arrested the accused from a flat in Porvorim, North Goa. He was evading the police by living here under a changed name.
During police interrogation, the accused confessed that in his initial days, he duped people in the name of insurance policies and later opened a fake call center and created a big network of fraud. He made people his victims in many states across the country. Cases are registered against him in many states including Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Criminal history of the accused
According to Delhi Police, Dnyaneshwar Kaushik is a resident of Khajuri Khas area of Delhi. His father was a librarian in Delhi University. After completing his studies, he started working in a call center and from there he learned the tricks of cheating. Gradually, he made cheating his profession by using fake schemes and call centers.
In 2016 too, he was arrested by Delhi Police, but after getting bail, he again started cheating. He was absconding in a case registered in 2014, and the court declared him a proclaimed offender in 2023.
Police investigation continues
Delhi Police has sent information about the arrest of the accused to all the states where he is wanted in cases of fraud. Police is now also trying to find out who else he has duped while being absconding.
