News Topical, Digital Desk : A major accident occurred near Delhi 's historic Red Fort on Monday evening. Eight people were killed and seven injured when a car exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. Monday evening when a Hyundai i20 car exploded. The blast also damaged nearby vehicles.

Home Minister Amit Shah stated that upon receiving information about the accident, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch arrived at the scene within 10 minutes. The investigation is ongoing and the cause of the explosion is currently being ascertained.

US Embassy issues security alert

Following the blast, the US Embassy issued a security alert for its citizens living in India. The embassy wrote on its website, "On November 10, 2025, a car bomb exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. Several people were reported injured. The cause of the explosion is currently unknown."

The Embassy has advised its citizens to stay away from Red Fort, Chandni Chowk and crowded areas, keep getting updates from local media and remain vigilant.

Foreign embassies expressed condolences

Diplomats from Britain, Sri Lanka, Morocco and Australia expressed condolences following the blast. British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron said, "My thoughts are with all those affected by the blast near Delhi's Red Fort."

The Sri Lankan High Commission posted on Twitter, "We extend our deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. We wish a speedy recovery to those injured." Diplomats from Morocco and Australia also posted condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with India.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police said that a case has been registered at Kotwali police station under sections 16, 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act ( UAPA ) and various sections of the Explosives Act and BNS .
